A native of Pennsylvania, Dr. McHugh earned a B.A. in psychology from LaSalle University. He then received an M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology and a second Ph.D. in child psychology while working at Hahnemann University and Hospital in the pediatric department and the department of mental health sciences. He is a licensed psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania and a member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association.
After completing an internship at the Philadelphia Mental Health Clinic, he received additional training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, cognitive and behavioral therapy, EMDR, neurolinguistic programing, and various other evidenced-based approaches including FLASH. He has worked with children, adolescents and adults for over 30 years on both an inpatient and outpatient basis including eight years with drug and alcohol units at two area hospitals.
Dr. McHugh has lectured and published on Attention Deficit Disorders.
